Beau Theige’s Guitars is an exhibit for music enthusiants, artists, and recyclers alike. Theige, a North Dakota rancher and oil worker, discovered the varied and unique craft of creating hand made guitars. His artistic flourish was to create beautiful, functional instruments from discarded objects. Each of Theige’s guitars is handcrafted and upcycled from everyday utilitarian objects, antiques, or plain old trash. Every guitar is playable: beautiful music comes from second-hand junk!
Join us for this hands-on, interactive exhibit. On Thursdays and Saturdays from 1-3pm, musicians may be on-site to play these functional art instruments, answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and discuss the guitars. The public is also invited to play the guitars on Fridays from 1-3pm throughout the duration of the exhibition.
This exhibit is sponsored by the North Dakota Art Gallery Association and Montana Art Gallery Directors Association. It is on view from August 2 to September 28, 2019.
