Wild Impressions is a collection of paintings by Wanda Mumm captured in the Bob Marshal Wilderness and Glacier National Park. This collection of oil paintings represents the stages, both in the field and the studio where she and her husband, Les, have captured the essence of “wildness”.
Artist Statement:
“Working as an artist has been my passion since about 13 years old. My first art set, a Christmas gift from my mother, was what gave me my early education in art. A weekly television show also helped feed my artist’s passion. I have painted or drawn since that time and continue to look for ways to improve my art and give my work the look and feeling I want to convey.
A degree in art was only the starting point for my path to seek a formal art education. I will forever be a student, studying to improve. My medium of choice is oil paints. I find being outside creating plein air paintings and studying directly from nature to be the best teacher. Landscape subjects are of particular interest because of the challenge as well as the experiences one receives from direct observation. Light has fascinated me and I like to paint scenes from early morning to late afternoon as well as nocturne scenes.”
