In Silver Linings: Clouds by Michelle Osman, Osman depicts the extraordinary clouds of the Montana skyscape in multiple styles, from photorealism to abstraction. The exhibition provides an environment for the mutual appreciation of the outdoors that all Montanans share through a meditative collection of works. For Osman, depicting clouds is an all-consuming enterprise and means of escape. Most well known for her oil paintings of storm clouds, this travelling exhibition sponsored by MAGDA, highlights Osman’s painting process, in which she works from photo references and collage to create her final products.
This exhibition is travelled by Montana Art Gallery Directors Association (MAGDA) and is supported in part by grants from the Montana Arts Council, a state agency funded by the State of Montana; coal severance taxes paid based upon coal mined in Montana and deposited in Montana’s Cultural and Aesthetic Projects Trust Fund; and the National Endowment for the Arts.
An exhibit reception will be held November 7, 2024 from 5-7pm.
