Painter Bonnie Griffith presents new works inspired by the late L.R. Newman’s photographs of Glacier National Park.

This posthumous collaboration is with Idaho visual artist Bonnie Griffith and a distant relative, the late photographer L.R. Newman. Griffith grew up admiring the photos of Leo Newman’s trips to Montana and Glacier, which reminded her of her own family ranch in Central Montana and her own connection to Glacier. in 2021, she decided to create a new body of work in response to specific photos of special locations like McDonald Creek Falls. This exhibition features 15 new works.
About Bonnie Griffith:
Bonnie Griffith is a successful plein air painter and master of pastels. Her work has been featured in the Hockaday Museum of Art’s A Timeless Legacy”: Women Artists of Glacier National Park and several Plein Air Glacier paint out events. She has won numerous awards for her work.
About L.R. Newman:
L.R. Newman lived in Chicago and developed developed a love of the west visiting his aunt and uncle (Bonnie’s grandparents) as a young man and later vacationing with his family to Montana and Glacier Park. His career was as a professional photographer but Leo was also an explorer, and enjoyed hiking trails in the Park, particularly in the Many Glacier area.
