Children of all ages and their families are welcome to participate in the ‘hands-on’ activities and exhibits in our interactive Children’s Discovery Gallery space!
Explore both visual and physical textures in art. ‘Texture’ describes how something feels, or how it looks like something feels. Use hands-on activities to guess different textures, trying drawing your own, and learning ways to describe texture.
Exhibit highlighting beadwork traditions of Native groups in North America. This exhibit discusses the different techniques and styles of beadwork. Visitors can find related Salish & Kootenai beadwork in our Crown of the Continent Gallery, on loan from Three Chiefs Cultural Center.
In combination with our upstairs exhibit, Joan Renee: Tapestries for the Body and Wall, children can learn about weaving, tapestries, and other forms of fiber art in the discovery gallery. Visitors can use a weaving loom to learn and practice basic weaving patterns.
Come investigate our children’s size tipi and learn about the history and origin of Blackfeet painted lodges stories and designs!
