In this exhibit, artist Tom Roberts focuses on the wildlife and landscape of Glacier National Park. He is especially interested in depicting species and landscape features that are threatened or quickly disappearing. The Hockaday is pleased to be able present this new group of paintings.
Roberts is a Montana artist specializing in wildlife and historic figures whose work has been featured in galleries and museums around the state and region. He first visited Montana in the early 1970s, and for many years worked seasonally in Yellowstone National Park. He is now a long-time resident of Kalispell and has explored Glacier National Park extensively. He works primarily in oils and occasionally in other media. The history and landscape of the American West along with his longtime participation in historic reenactments and living history are primary sources of inspiration for his art.
