James Udick and Mark Norley, who both recently passed in 2020 and 2021, were long-time supporters, volunteers and donors to the Hockaday Museum of Art and other local organizations. They were also passionate art collectors who travelled the world. They gave a portion of their art for the Hockaday’s permanent collection and as unrestricted gifts for a fundraiser sale.
This event offers an opportunity for young or new collectors to start their collection of original art or find that one-of-a-kind piece to add to an existing collection. Framed paintings and works on paper offer a range of subject matter, mediums, and styles, with several historic works from 18th and 19th century, and most works from post world war II to present, including works by established Montana artists and others for sale, all under $1000. There will also be some books and posters for sale at prices ranging from $1-$50. All proceeds support the Hockaday, with a portion of the funds specifically going towards the Hockaday’s newly established Mark D. Norley Memorial Scholarship for Visual Arts for graduating local High School Seniors, as well as the museum acquisition fund for purchasing new artwork.
Sale details: All work will be available for sale at set affordable prices and can be wrapped and taken home upon purchase. Prices will be noted on the artwork labels. All works were donated as unrestricted gift donations to the Hockaday specifically for a fundraiser. The Hockaday Museum of Art has a separate process for donated works for the permanent collection. If you are interested in donating artwork to the Hockaday for potential acquisition to the permanent collection or for a future fundraiser sale or auction, please contact Director Alyssa Cordova at director@hockadaymuseum.com.
